Why the name Miss Maltese?

The term Miss Maltese is inspired by Corto Maltese, a "cult" figure from European graphic novels and a twentieth-century literary myth. Corto is a wandering, ironic sailor who blends Mediterranean looks with Anglo-Saxon culture. He is an anti-hero who values freedom and imagination over money, akin to a modern Ulysses, taking us to the most intriguing places on Earth. Travel represents a transformative experience, transcending geographic boundaries to embrace the unknown and enrich oneself.

Historically, travel, as a symbol of freedom and opportunity, was reserved for men. Women were confined to domestic roles, with limited mobility. According to Dinora Corsi's essay Women and Travel in the Middle Ages, women's travel was primarily limited to wedding journeys and pilgrimages. Only widows or religious women could travel more freely, unburdened by familial ties.

In light of this, why not create a female version of Corto Maltese?

Miss Maltese is an adventurous woman who travels to pursue her dreams. She loves the metropolis, takes risks, makes new friends, and establishes her place in the professional world.

    Ceo Founder & Creative Director

My name is Eliseé. I am Italian-Congolese, and I’ve been fortunate enough to embrace both of my cultures—an experience that has shaped the woman I am today.

My journey in the city began at 18, when I took a sabbatical year to rediscover myself—and Milan. That journey led me to a degree in Fashion Design at NABA, Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti, and into the fashion world as an Art Director and Stylist.

The city gave me so much—strength, resilience, and the will to chase my dreams. I still remember my first day in my first apartment, eating plain spaghetti and savoring the taste of freedom.

But every story has its antagonist—the villain in the background. In this city, it's the clash between the values you grew up with and the compromises you're asked to make. It’s about choosing to stand your ground and stay aligned with your standards, even when it’s not easy.

I am a Gen Z Carrie Bradshaw. In my world, I want to ride the metro in Amina Muaddi’s Rosie leather pumps, paired with a Dior Large Book Tote. I can’t afford them—but dreaming is free.

After visiting the four fashion capitals, I hold snapshots in my memory:
    — The steps of Milan’s Duomo, where stories are shared, tourists pose for pictures, and workers rush to avoid being late.
    — The New York subway, where street dancers fill the space with joy and rhythm.
    — Paris in February, freezing cold, where you warm up in a café with hot tea and macarons while admiring the Eiffel Tower.
    — Rainy London, watching the world go by from inside a red double-decker bus.

With all these memories in my heart, I decided to create Miss Maltese.

  • Giulia Pedrotti

    Content Creator & Stylist

    Hello people of miss Maltese!

My name is Giulia, Giutti for friends .

I’m 22 and I’m a creative freelance model and fashion styling and communication student. I come from a very small town in the north of Italy, almost on the border with Switzerland, where the majestic Chain of Alps elevates I in the sky. I moved to Milan, three years ago, to focus on fashion studies. Living for years in strict contact with nature helped me to understand how fragile and unique our Mother hearth is, and to create an emotional and deep bond with her. She represents my safe place, where I feel free and understood, beyond being an inspirational source to many of my artistic and fashion projects. Milan is surely less green than many other places I know, but I’m also sure that I whenever nature is not there, art is there to replace her; and this beautiful city has to offer loads of art, in every shape and corner : architecture, murales, graffiti, shop windows, billboards, colourful districts, street art, markets, even people in the metro or wandering on the streets, are all elements that inspire me everyday like nature does.
